The 2 things I do before bed to keep my head straight.
The 2 things I do before bed to keep my head straight.
A lot has been happening over the past few weeks. I stopped listening to music in the gym and have been strictly listening to Corey Wayne's latest book “Quotes, Ruminations & Contemplations: Volume I.”
If you didn’t know by now I am very into personal development and he’s one of my favorite authors/coaches.
I’m currently on my third time listening and this book has hijacked my thoughts and actions.
I chose to stop listening to music in the gym because any media you consume programs you. To make a long story short it influences what you do.
I do want to take all the credit for the work I’ve been putting in for self-love reasons but I’ve been influenced by the ideas in his book and am seeing results and changes daily. I’d highly recommend reading this book if you need any help in your personal or professional life.
One concept I’ve learned is that life is hard. All of your grandest goals and dreams are on the other side of what you fear and true, deep uncomfortableness. Most people don’t have the heart to do what it takes because it's simple and hard. As I’m writing this I’m thinking to myself they’ve heard this before, they know”.
But for me, it's because I’m doing it right now. Last week I promptly decided to start a crowdfunding campaign (We probably met because of it :). The funny thing is I had it on my calendar to begin one but quickly found out that it would be pointless if I had no audience to campaign to. I decided I wasn't going to wait for my audience to come to me. Instead, I chose to go to my audience in the wild, and not only that I was gonna crowdfund too.
Now the good part…
Some days before I go out I find myself thinking fearful thoughts. Fear is the number 1 dream killer ever to exist. It was time to begin prospecting and I Immediately found myself being thirsty. I then “needed to use the bathroom”. I then “needed to eat”. Walking down the stairs to leave I had anxiety that felt like what a cat looks like when you try to push them into a pool. I’M NOT KIDDING.
What was happening at the time was that my mind was subconsciously looking for a reason to stay home and off the streets prospecting new clients aka self-sabotage. I recognized it and said. “fuck that, I gotta go right now.” To make a long story short I had a successful night prospecting.
The credit goes to Corey Wayne and the 2 things I choose to do before bed to help keep my head on straight.
I would recommend you do those 2 things
Ready??
Here they are…
Writing my 5 daily accomplishments
Every night before bed I write down 5 things I accomplished that day, no matter how little. I would recommend you do this too as it keeps your mindset positive. Remember high school? Remember how fast it went. Idk about you but I wasn't grateful enough back then for the times that occurred. I wanted to graduate and be done with school as fast as possible. The point is I didn't enjoy the moment. Now… I look back and I miss those days. But how come I didn't enjoy it while I was there? What can I do to make sure I'm enjoying the good in today's moment?
I didn't enjoy it during that time because I wasn't in the present moment. I was focused on the future, ie the day I was gonna be done with school forever. So… to make sure I'm enjoying today's moments I write down 5 daily accomplishments and also…
My Daily Gratitude list
So each day I sit there and take the time to write 5 things I'm grateful for. No matter how big or small. This helps you not only be in the present moment but enjoy it. No matter what, there's something to be grateful for and you should appreciate every moment you have in life. Not only that it also helps you stay positive-minded, authentically… not the fake stuff you see here and there.
So try those 2 things for the next few days and tell me what you think.
